“This is theatre like it was to be expected and foreseen”, is an eight hours long Jan Fabre stageplay.
During the play an interview with Marcel Duchamp is screened.
One sentence got stuck in my head: “After a while anything becomes beautiful…”
From the abundance of movement, images, emotion, horror and nakedness…
apparently that one sentence stood out.
At that moment during the play I started pondering on Marcel Duchamp’s bicycle wheel
paraphrasing it with my words, my own material…
(bicycle wheel, glass and LED light)
at the same time I started thinking about his ‘Bird cage with marble blocks’
and I also decided to make:
“Freddie suiker noch marmer” (“Freddie sugar, nor marble”)
(cage, autumn leaves from my doorstep, swan wing and LED light)
